It's already been a year!

We were looking back and we noticed that The Hazard Chronicles ought to be renamed to be The Eva Chronicles. That bug has surely taken over our lives and our affection.

This week, Eva had her very first birthday! We bought her a birthday cake, stripped off her shirt, and let her go at it. She had a very happy birthday. Also, thanks to both sets of grandparents for the presents she received in the mail. She got photo books from both families, a push-button pop-up toy from Rachel's parents, and a web-cam from mine (she was not very excited about this last one, but mom and dad sure were!)

She LOVED her cake- and she ate a lot of it. It's okay though, because it was her birthday, right? I love how she is pointing to her belly in the last picture, as if to demonstrate how full she is. By the way, pointing to things is her new favorite activity. There is no end to the number of things that one can point to. Such fun.

This last year has been the best year of my life. I think that Rachel would agree. Eva has certainly added a new, fun dimension to our lives and we often find ourselves wondering what we ever did before she came along. Happy birthday Eva Bug. We love you.

On a different note, Rachel went to the doctor for a check up this week and found out that our twins are doing great! She heard the two distinct heart beats and everything. They have grown a little bit, but as you can see, they still just look like fuzzy blobs. The doctors call them "Baby A" and "Baby B" to keep track of each one's progress. We thought that was boring though, so we have taken to calling them "Noodle" and "Twitch."

Eva's Moves

This has been a great week with little Eva. She is growing up so fast! She will turn one this week and she is doing great! In this last week she added the words bear and book to her vocabulary. She also learned how to clap and she can now stand unassisted for thirty seconds or more! She has had a busy week!

Happy Valentines Day! On Saturday we went to Kirtland to see the bronze exhibition they are presenting. Wow. I didn't know what to expect, but I think those statues were by far my favorate representation of Christ that I have ever seen. The artist picked up His royal presence and his human charactoristics. I don't even know how to explain the way she captured His presence. If you are living in Cleveland, I think this is a must see exhibition. Let me know what you think. Evelyn had a great time as well. She charmed all of the couple missionaries with her giggling, waving and happiness. Unfortunately, we were not able to bring a camera.

We just had to share. This video will brighten your day. I think Evelyn was just born with music in her soul. She dances whenever she hears any kind of beat, and sometimes she dances when she hears music that no one else can hear. She figured out these dance moves on her own, we didn't teach her.

Enjoy!

Evelyn's Big News

Evelyn is going to be a big sister!

A few weeks ago we found out that we will be adding a new member of the family. On Friday we had an ultrasound to find out an accurate due date.

We found out a lot more than that! It took me a while to process this image too. It looks like we have the joy of adding two more Hazards to our sweet family. That's right. Twins. By the way... I am 6 and a half week pregnant and my twin due date (36 weeks instead of 40) is at the end of August. This is actually a picture of a picture, but you can actualy see little parts of each baby in the sacs. Looking at this ultrasound gives me chills!.

The doctor said in rare cases there was something called 'vanishing twins' where an early ultrasound shows two, then subsequent ultrasounds show only one baby. He said this would be extremely rare in my case because we can already see both babies.

This week has obviously been a good one! We are getting over the 'freaking out inside our heads' phase and we are into the extrememly excited and a little bit daunted phase. We have successfully grown out of our car over this weekend and our house is seeming a little bit cramped (It was so big when we moved in!). Everything will work out perfectly! We are ecstatic and Evelyn would be too if she knew what was going on. ;)

Evelyn is as cute as ever! She is very close to walking and loves to practice. She is inquisitive about everything and as happy as can be. She finally got over her sickies and is back to her normal sweet self.

We are extremely blessed!

I was cooking dinner last night and I heard ridiculous giggling from Evelyn and I had to check it out. This is what I found.

One of those weeks...

During the week it seemed like we were crazy-non-stop-busy, but when we look back and brainstorm what actually happened, we can't think of all that much. I guess it has just been one of those weeks. So, here's what did happen...

The saga of Rachel's dental work continues. This week was actually a big step forward in this regard because she finally got the implant placed for her front tooth. She was pretty nervous about the whole ordeal, and I don't blame her- after all, they did put a screw through her bone. The whole thing went pretty well and today she was actually able to put her fake tooth back in her mouth for about an hour (she won't get the crown on the implant for another couple of months).

While all this was going on, Evelyn decided it was a good time to get really grouchy and smelly and sick. Actually, the grouchy and smelly part was because of the sick part. She was vomiting a lot and had a high fever and became very clingy and poopy and grumpy and a menace. But we love her. We took her to the doctor and got some Pedialyte and Tylenol and she seems to be feeling a little better.

So here we are, Rachel laid up with a sore mouth, Evelyn being a grumpy menace, and I am at school all day. And then, for some reason, I get sick and start throwing up and...well, let's just say that I wasn't able to help out a whole lot around the house.

Yes, it has just been one of those weeks. Thankfully we are all feeling much better now and are excited to see what the new week brings.

Despite all the craziness, we still had some good moments. Here's Eva learning how to play the guitar. We love that bug!
