Lucky

I am loving being a new mom! Logan is really enjoying his time with Evelyn as well. Today in church he looked at me and asked "why didn't we have one of these sooner?" Then he asked "Can we have another one now?" That, too, will be an exciting day.

Evelyn has had a crazy week. On Thursday and Friday she had her first growth spurt. She ate practically non stop and was awake both days except for a one hour nap. I did some research on the internet and found out that babies can either become very sleepy or very awake when they have a growth spurt. Eva is definately the wide awake variety. Her eating and sleeping patterns returned to normal and predictable on Saturday. It is very easy to predict when she needs to eat. One morning she ate at 4:57, 6:57, and 8:57. Crazy. She enjoys taking her sweet time when she eats. She needs exactly 20 minutes on each side, and today I found out that many babies only need 5-10 minutes in all! Last night an amazing thing happened. First, she was crazy hungry and ate two feedings back to back. Then, she slept through the night! The first time I woke up was at 5. Hooray!

Things are starting to get back to a normal schedule around here. Logan is working hard on a research grant proposal for his new summer research job. He is going to be working on an interesting project related to endodontic surgery. He worked in a research lab for three years at BYU on his own project related to plant genes, and he is excited to work on a project with results that will directly affect his profession (and that people care about and can understand).

FYI- I've decided to take pictures to document little Eva's growth. I have a stuffed animal that will be in all of the pictures so it will be easy to see how much she grows. These pictures will be posted on the same link as my baby belly pictures. The first one is two weeks old and then I will take them every month.
Pictures...

My mom and dad were here for a week. We did a lot of fun things with them and we are very thankful for all of their help. Thanks Mom and Dad!

When Eva sleeps she likes having her hands above her head in a "praise-the-lord" position. In fact, she was being very fussy yesterday and her hands were all over the place, but as soon as they both found themselves above her head she was out cold- a tranquilizer dart couldn't have worked any better!

And here she is, wide awake and ready to take on the world.
