To celebrate the coming of the new year, Rachel and I went to "First Night" in Spokane and had a great time. Live music, comedy, lots of dancing, and a spectacular energy-filled count-down with fireworks, all with my favorite person in the world. What a night!
Next week I'm planning on doing a new year update on each member of our family. For now though, I just want to take a moment to reflect on the great year 2017 was for us. The highlight reel would include multiple visits with extended family including three reunions, lots of good times both hosting and attending activities with our friends, trips to Las Vegas, New York City, the Bahamas, Scottsdale, Leavenworth, France, and Italy, the purchase of a new boat, the complete makeover of our basement into a game room, many great nights with each other including much dancing and live theater, multiple family activities and trips, hiking, climbing, camping, river running, theme-parking, and boating. On top of her regular job with Sorensen, Rachel got a business license and started doing free-lance work again, including a further delving into musical and theatrical interpreting. For me, work is steady and enjoyable with a great team by my side and a wonderful community of patients to serve. Our church family has also become an extension of our own, and we have enjoyed participating in and contributing to the many activities and outreach programs that go on there. Our kids are all doing well in school as well as in their various extracurricular activities, and they each have friends who help to bring out the best in them.
In short, we are all healthy, happy, and able to pursue life on our own terms.
Truly, we have much to be thankful for. What a year!
Here's a little video I put together:
