This week was mostly quiet, which may sound odd given the content of the next few sentences. The painter has been at our house, and it is has been fun to come home from work each day and see the progress that has been made. Tomorrow he will be done, and then the next day the carpet guys will be there. As soon as they finish their installation we'll be doing trim and doors by ourselves. The capstone project then, will be hanging the extra-large picture that is being painted specifically for us of the Teton mountain range. In just a few weeks this thing will be over, and it's going to great! In the meantime, it is all we can do to keep the rest of the house in decent shape, but I think we've done a pretty good job. Like I said, it's been a mostly quiet week.

For our date night, Rachel and I went to see "Mandelstam," a play about a Russian poet during the Stalin era who was imprisoned and ultimately killed for putting his ideas into writing. It was a dark comedy, which somehow made the themes even more poignant than if it were just a pure drama.

We also watched the Seahawks get kicked out of the playoffs. So...more dark comedy? Yeah.

As for the kids, we woke up one day to a ski report of 30" in two days, with 10" since closing the previous night. This was a day for the fat skis! Great times on and off the slopes. The kids discovered $1 pizza and I think they will never be the same...nor will their bank accounts.

So, that was our week. In the next post we are planning on giving a New Year's update on everyone in the family, so gear up for a long one. As for now,

Have a good week!
