Almond Family Reunion

On the final day of the Hazard reunion we packed up our stuff and headed to Utah for the Almond reunion.  Unfortunately, Logan was unable to stay because there was a last minute reschedule and the reunion landed in August.  Logan's Europe trip was already planned for August and there was no option for more time off of work. We missed him, but if you check out the post from August 8th you can see that he kept himself pretty busy!

Almond Reunion

Growing up in my family vacations meant boating and boating generally meant Lake Powell.  I have many memories and adventure stories on this little boat.

Now our family is creating memories on a new boat. Picture the one above without the white stripe and viola! You have Deja Vu.  My brother and mom went in on this little gem and stepping on the boat makes me feel like I am stepping back in time. We had a wonderful day on the lake, playing at a private beach, and picnicking at our camping spot. We did not actually camp there (more on that later), but we were able to get good use of it nonetheless.

Those cute kids above are me and Brandon when we were younger.  You can see that we have not changed much in the years that have passed!

One of the highlights of the trip was going with Brandon to Hill Air Force base to see one of the test missile launches. Not many people get to say that their brother is a rocket scientist, but I do!  He enjoys it and I had a great time learning more information than I ever thought I would know about missiles. I also found out that Missile launches happen at 1 a.m. and can be delayed for two and a half hours due to weather. With our arrival home at 5 a.m. we all decided that camping that night was not the best choice and we went the following morning to enjoy our campsite and the day on the lake.

The kids are always excited to go and play at Grandma's house! They can entertain themselves for hours with the dress up clothes, the play house, and many toys and books that are waiting for them there. We spent some much needed time just playing at Grandma's house, and we also had plenty of activities out of the house.  Here is a rundown of a few of the things we did.

Lets begin with the boating pictures!

In this moment I was magically transformed into a twelve year old again!  This was always my favorite place to be, but it seemed a bit smaller this time around...

Here are some fun pool pictures. We definitely got our fill of water activities!

Does this one bring back memories for my family?

Fun times at Grandma's house!

Jackson was very proud of this dress he designed for Maren!

Grandma has the best dress ups!  I always have a trip down memory lane because a lot of her dresses were once mine. Can you spot the dress I wore for Aunt Deanna's wedding?  We even have the flower crown to go with it.

Fun at the park/carnival
Cute cousins!

On the way home one day we decided to take the kids on the trax train (their first time) and visit the planetarium.  It was great fun and we walked away with only one picture to remember the experience.

The kids' first time with ice cream perfection. Leatherby's Creamery is amazing!

I wanted to end with some of the best pictures of all!  We could not get enough of little Miss Kaylee Rose!

Have a good week!

(For those of you who remember the lovely picture of corn and our sweet Maren, fear not! The fun trip to Rick and Courtney's farm will be covered in the next post. We had such a fun time and I didn't want the trip to get lost in this post!).

  1. We had a great reunion.
Rachel liked one on one time with siblings and running through the water tube at the park.
Maren liked "Riding on the log." this was a big drift log the kids happily shared with others. She also liked digging in the sand and letting the water flow in. Maren also liked the train, ferris wheel and plans at Liberty park.
Adelie's "Brandon throwing her in deep end and everything."
Jack liked the park and everything.
I loved seeing everyone and having so much fun. It was wonderful that Marissa and her family were able to come so soon after Kaylee was born.
