Catching our Breath

If you look at our blog over the past few weeks, it's clear that we don't stop to rest much during the summer. This last week then, was like an aid station in the middle of race- a quick chance to re-energize before getting back on the track.

Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Monday were all boat days, and we are beginning to feel a little more proficient than we were. That's good, since we have family coming up for boat-camping this weekend and we want to look like we know what we're doing.

This week, the 4 older kids all have camp, which gives Rachel some much-needed time to catch her breath.
I'll probably have more camp pictures next week. Here's one of Evelyn with some of her new friends. She has met some other Harry Potter fanatics and is already collecting phone-numbers for post-camp activities. Today, they all have plans to wear Harry Potter earrings together.

Addy and I were also able to take a quick breather at Silverwood, where we did roller-coasters for a couple hours and then spent the rest of the day at the water park.
Addy is our first kid to do Panic Plunge (A tower drop ride).

Perfect water-park day. Sunblock is a great invention.
On Saturday night Rachel and I finally got to see a Broadway caliber production of "Phantom of the Opera." It's amazing that we haven't had this chance yet, since we sort of consider ourselves connoisseurs of the theater (at least as much as is possible without living in a place with an established theater district). It did not disappoint. Even though (and I'm almost ashamed to admit it) I'm not enamored with the literary quality of the story line, I believe it would be nearly impossible to match the theatrical or musical prowess of this amazing show. We had a great time.

Have a good week!

An evening concert in the park. Life is good.

  1. The camps look fun, and your time with Addy at Silverwood looks fun too. She is a dare devil. I can see that boating is getting into your blood and you live in a great place for that . . . perfect! I'm glad you got to finally see "Phantom of the Opera." I'm always amazed at the talents different people have.
