This week was one of lots of little things. To me, it felt pretty chill. To other people, I think there were some significant events. It was good.

For starters, Addy and Maren have been saving up their money for a day at Silverwood. Rachel already had free tickets from a job she did, and she invited Lindsey along. Thus, it was settled: Girl's trip to the theme park! They had a wonderful time together and Maren told me that, out of all the times she has been there before, this was the best one.

The weekend was a hodgepodge of activities- art walks, swimming at the lake, watching friends perform in various bands, climbing at the gym, and rollerblading were all on the list. The biggest activity was on Sunday though, and was fairly spontaneous. It was the night before that I was scrolling social media on my phone, and I saw that a friend of mine had done Scotchman Peak. This is a hike that I have been meaning to do for years, but have never gotten around to. I passed the pictures around and asked who thought it might be fun. And that was that. Thanks, Michell, for the inspiration :)

The next day we were all on the trail, prepared for the worse. The hike has a reputation of being pretty strenuous. To be fair, it was a pretty consistent climb- but I think we all agreed that it was easier than we had anticipated. We all made the hike in good spirits. Some people ran. Some strolled. All had a good time. Things that stand out are the huckleberries that were EVERYWHERE along the trail below treeline, and the mountain goats that were EVERYWHERE along the trail at higher elevations. We at lunch at top and then made it back home in time for huckleberry shakes and pizza. It was a good one.

About half way up, Evelyn and Addy took off on a power march to the summit. The rest of us took things a little slower.

Maren's side ponytail. Love it!

Lunch at the top.

Lindsey wanted to climb this little rocky outcropping. A curious baby goat followed her up, and then blocked her path down. I'll be honest- the goats were a little intimidating at first. The rest of us were laughing so hard at Lindsey's predicament, but I think she was legit scared and started crying. This kind of made us laugh at her more, which maybe wasn't the coolest reaction. Jackson finally climbed up and distracted the goat with a weird little dance while Lindsey scooted around to the descent gully. Funny situation.

The views were pretty amazing. Mountains everywhere, with the lake shining in the distance. What a place we live!

I don't know the history of this, but someone has made a little shelter on the summit.

I really like this photo of Evelyn just chillin on the way up the trail

Another goat picture. We probably saw a dozen or more of these guys, and some of them got really close. They were obviously used to people, and after a while we were pretty used to them.

Huckleberry picking. We managed to fill up most of a water bottle in just about 20 minutes of picking.

Huckleberry shakes at home for the win

Jackson is a dirt clod

Have a good week!
